Our Team

The Reverend Tim Waghorn is the Rector at Lakes Anglican. He was commissioned in March 2014 by Bishop Greg Thompson, and licensed as Rector February 2016. Tim was ordained in the Diocese of Melbourne after completing formal theological training at Bible College of Victoria and Ridley Melbourne.

Tim is married to Gail who has known Jesus Christ for as long as she remembers. They have adult children.

Tim has the passion to see God’s Kingdom grow through taking the gospel of Jesus Christ into the Community. He is energized by leading worship and preaching in both traditional and contemporary settings, and has effectively led  various ministries including men’s ministry, hospitality, youth, family & children and music.  He is a published author on the topic of Messy Church Theology; How far can you go before reaching the limit? Tim was also the first to bring Messy Church to Australia. Working to create pathways from the neighbourhood to the church has been a strong focus of his ministry. He loves 80’s music and spending time with his wife Gail and their two dogs Alice and Bernard. Tim was once described as broad evangelical with a charismatic edge. His response? ‘Pretty close…’

Annette Shorten is the Children and Family Minister at Lakes Anglican. Annette brings compassion and energy with a caring focus to younger generations. She runs our Playtime groups on Wednesday and Thursday mornings as well as overseeing the Sunday 9:30 service Sunday School. Annette can also be found at Lakes Grammar, an Anglican School running girls crew. Alongside her husband Matt ( Lakes Grammar senior school chaplain), they run our monthly youth service 628CREW. With three daughters, Annette spends her time managing both work and family life. Oh, she likes coffee.

Our Preaching Team is growing. At the 9:30 gathering, our preaching team is made up of Revd. Tim Waghorn, Revd. Matt Shorten, Revd. Dan Connor and Revd. Rob Barrie. They all bring their own style of preaching, but you can be assured it is biblically strong with an evangelical ethos.
